Timed to coincide with the Saving Lives exhibition this special event focuses on what happens when health issues put an end to military service. Stepping back onto civvy street is not without its own challenges for anyone leaving the forces. Hear from leading academics, doctors, nurses and military veterans about the issues faced by those returning from service as we explore current thinking and practice in areas from health to finding a home, returning to education and forging a new career.
Speakers include University of Chester’s Professor Mike Thomas on the Service Personnel Transition Programme (University of Chester and University of Salford), RAF veteran Peter Carruthers who will be screening his dramatic short film Fallout that aims to increase awareness and empathy for people suffering with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Col A P Finnegan PhD – Defence Professor of Nursing & Head of the Academic Department of Defence Nursing, Ministry of Defence.
