University of Salford Digital Performance Lab
A new project by artists John O’Shea (Manchester) and Ellie Harrison (Glasgow), The Other Forecast has been made in response to MediaCityUK, home to the new BBC and ITV studios. O’Shea and Harrison invite a range of artists, performers, academics and experts to create their own take on the familiar ‘weather forecast’. In front of a green screen, each will present and explain the interconnectedness of a variety of local and global systems - not just meteorological, but social, political or financial - presenting a "worldview" from their own personal perspective.
THIS IS A TICKETED EVENT AS PART OF THE QUAYS OPEN DAY. BOOKINGS CAN BE MADE VIA QUAY TICKETS ON 0843 208 0500 OR IN PERSON AT THE LOWRY BOX OFFICE.
The Other Forecast performances will be turned into films and feature as part of DE2013: Open Digital conference. The UK Research Councils Digital Economy theme supports research to rapidly realise the transformational impact of digital technologies on aspects of community life, cultural experiences, future society, and the economy.
Delegates at the conference will hear from expert speakers and leading researchers, take part in exploratory workshops, and witness the latest innovations and prototypes through technology demonstrators.
The Other Forecast artists’ films will be broadcast on the MediaCityUK big screen on the Plaza at 13:30 and 17:30 from 4- 10 November. You can see the full DE2013: Open Digital programme by clicking on the link to the right.
