On the Plaza, between The Lowry and the Outlet Mall 18th December until 7th January 10am until 10pm
12,000 glowing LEDs make up this unique visual and sensory experience, putting you in the mood for the festive season. Aeolian Light is a new artwork exclusively commissioned by Quays Culture and the University of Salford, and created especially for The Quays. This clever interactive artwork responds to human movement and one of The Quays? most abundant natural assets- the wind!
Squidsoup and Quays Culture invite everybody, of all ages, to step into this 10 metre square cube of lights and not only see the wind visualised as playful shapes but see the light trails your movement makes as you make your way through the artwork.
Aeolian Light is a truly immersive experience, the very latest in innovative, digital creativity and best of all it?s FREE. The artwork builds on six years of research and development by its creators Squidsoup, an internationally based group of artists, researchers and designers, passionate about immersive, interactive, volumetric installation art.
"..big and clever. And, we sincerely hope, twinklingly, magically beautiful too." (Creative Tourist)
Squidsoup artist, Anthony Rowe, will deliver a talk, 4pm Thursday 18th December FREE, booking required through the University of Salford (please see link to right of this page)
