As part of the festive season Quays Culture are delighted to bring you a series of classical music and vocal interventions in the public/outdoor spaces during your visit to the Quays. These pop-up performances will appear for short bursts of music and opera singing in the Lowry Outlet Mall shopping spaces and outdoor plaza, then disappear as quickly as they appeared. Shoppers, visitors and theatre-goers can enjoy for free these high quality performers during 12 ? 3pm on the following dates:
Opera soprano Aimee originates from the west coast of Scotland and is currently based in the north of England. Having previously studied at the University of Glasgow (MA Music and Languages with 1st class Hons., 2008 / MMus Musicology, 2010), she came to performance studies in 2010, entering the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). While at college she was cast in the principal soprano role of Romilda in their 2012 production of Handel?s Xerxes and was selected to represent the RNCM on a number of external engagements, graduating with distinction in December 2012
The Northern String Quartet is an exciting and charismatic ensemble which is rapidly arising in the chamber music world. Its members were trained at the prestigious and worldwide renowned Royal Northern College of Music. The Northern String Quartet members also perform with highly acclaimed orchestras such as Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Halle Orchestra, Opera North & Manchester Camerata. Its members have been performing together for over a decade in many concerts across the United Kingdom.
Classical guitarist Ed Billingham enjoys playing music from all the classical repertoire, with J.S.Bach being his favourite. He was chosen a soloist in his first year at the London College of Music to play Rodgrigo?s Aranuez concerto. He has performed widely as a soloist to appreciative audiences. He studied with top teachers from an early age including David Russell and Carlos Bonell.
At the RNCM studied for the PGdip with Roger Bigley. Along with his performing work, Ed is dedicated teacher of all levels and specifically starting beginners off on the right path.
