Hear leading reportage illustrator George Butler talk about his experiences in Afghanistan, and why he believes that reportage illustration is as valid, viable and powerful as photography and film in recording today's news.
George has travelled the world to capture powerful scenes in places affected by conflict. WithDraw, a new display of George's work, is currently on display at IWM North. The artworks, drawn live in situ, capture the impact on everyday life in Afghanistan during the drawback of western troops, who have been present in the country since 2001.
These new images offer an insight into what happens away from foreign television cameras, at quiet moments in between the events that make news headlines.
George's talk will be followed by a Q&A, giving the audience the chance to ask questions about his work.
