There's something about Mary...
Ordsall Hall welcomes home the only portraits that we know of that are original to the Hall. The hand painted portraits of Ellis and Mary Markendale who lived at Ordsall Hall in the 1800s.
On this day we welcome home two original, unique, Victorian painted portraits of Ellis and Mary Markendale - members of the famous family of butchers, tanners and skinners who lived at Ordsall Hall, and who farmed its surrounding land, between 1815 and 1871.
Be the first to see these 'never seen before in public' portraits, marvel at the recent conservation work on the portrait of Ellis, enjoy light refreshments and help to launch a fundraising scheme to conserve the portrait of Mary Markendale.
